Little Theatre Summer Performance of CASH ON DELIVERY

Posted on July 24th, 2010

The Little Theatre is pleased to announce the opening of its Summer 2010 Show, ?Cash On Delivery?, on July 30, 2010. ‘Cash’ is a British farce by Michael Cooney, and is directed by Patti Earl.little-theatre-summer-performance-of-cash-on-delivery-photo1 - Photos By Sandi Carroll (www.SandiCarroll.net)

This fast paced yarn for the live stage concerns Eric, a self-styled con artist, who lost his job two years ago, and is hiding the fact that he has been defrauding the welfare authorities with every possible trick while  collecting thousands in welfare payments. One day Jenkins, a government employee, comes by to check up on how all these benefits can be paid to the same address. And then other government employees begin to show up.little-theatre-summer-performance-of-cash-on-delivery-photo2
Eric creates stories for his wife, the government workers and enlists help from his upstairs lodger, Norman, and his Uncle George to participate in his deceptions. There is a scene stealing cross dresser, a dead body, and mistaken identities? all the ingredients to guarantee one side splitting scene after another. But don’t get any ideas to try out yourself. Nabbed in the end, Eric confesses, and instead of jail time, he finds a job working for the government, because he knows all the tricks!
Reserved seating is available at the Little Theatre Box Office at 386-423-1246. Adults are $14. Seniors are $13 and Students under 18 are $7. The Box Office is open week-days from 1 until 4 p.m. and 2 hours prior to each performance. The show will be playing July 30, 31, August 1, 6, 7 and 8. Curtain opens at 8 p.m. sharp except Sundays, which are matinee performances at 2 p.m. More information is available at the Box Office or by visiting the Little Theatre online at www.NsbPlayers.org.

Art Walk and Wine Walk set for July 24

Posted on July 19th, 2010

Art Walk will be held on historic Flagler Avenue in New Smyrna Beach from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday, July 24. Attendees can take an enjoyable stroll along the avenue while enjoying the wide variety of art works featured inside galleries, as well as by several visiting artists under canopies, and may also participate in a “Wine Walk.”
williams-clay-creations1     The wine walk portion of Art Walk runs from 1 to 6 p.m. and offers a progressive wine tasting along the avenue where participants can taste their choice from more than 50 showcased wines. Wine tasting passports can be purchased for $20 at the tent at the northeast corner of Flagler Avenue and Cooper Street. The passport will include 20 tasting tickets and a keepsake glass allowing attendees to select the wines they would like to sample in exchange for their tickets. Some locations feature both one-ticket and multi-ticket wines to sample. A “Wine Tasting” flyer will list host locations in geographic order between the river and the ocean and what wines they are featuring. For those who want to share their 20 tasting tickets with a friend, an additional wine glass will be available for $5.
Start at the ocean or the river or anywhere in-between. From the river heading east to the ocean, the locations are: 100 block, Ta Da Gallery; 300 block, That’s Amore, Atlantis Bistro, Gyftz, Manzano Fine Foods, Galleria di Vetro, Trader’s Beach Club, Om Bar & Chill Lounge; 400 block, Flagler Tavern and Peanut’s Restaurant Sport’s Bar, and around the corner on Buenos Aires at Toni & Joe’s. Hold onto your passport and present it at participating eateries for dinner specials that evening.
Ta Da, one of the wine tasting stations, will also be serving cheese, crackers and assorted goodies on the front porch during the afternoon. At Galleria di Vetro, another wine tasting station, celebrity chef end author Ed Pankonin will be doing live demos and offering gourmet Italian food samples and will sign copies of his cookbook. Jazz pianist Isaac will perform from 1-5 p.m. and Galleria will be offering door prizes every hour from noon to 5 p.m. DJ Dennis will be playing everyone’s favorite music and making announcements at the gazebo, at the corner of Flagler Avenue and Pine Street, throughout the day.
surfboards1     The silent auction for four 8-foot long decorative surfboards held at Ta Da Gallery in June was a sell-out and some happy attendees went home with unique art works by Stephanie Hill, Kathy Mills, Tray Holloway and Paulette.
Art Walk features painting, jewelry, ceramics, glass blowing, sculpture, fabric arts and more. There will be a special “punch card” prize drawing presented by the Gallery Group of Flagler Avenue. The Wine Tasting flyer includes the Art Walk prize drawing punch card, so pick one up and get it punched at each of the four sponsoring galleries for a chance to win the monthly prize. Galleria di Vetro Studio and Glass Gallery, 310 Flagler Ave., will donate this month’s prize. The other sponsoring galleries are: Ta Da Gallery, 113 Flagler, Jewelry of Joy, 301 Flagler, and Palms Up Pottery, 413 Flagler Ave.
The winner of the April prize drawing, a North Country Wind Bells chime donated by Ta Da Gallery, is Mary Jo Morris. The winner of the May drawing, for a pair of amethyst and sterling silver earrings from Jewelry of Joy, is Nancy Bright.
As a reminder to stay hydrated on a hot summer day, the four sponsoring galleries will be offering free bottles of water to their customers.
Come with your friends, browse the wonderful galleries, enjoy sampling some outstanding wines, and stay for a beautiful beachside sunset. For more information about Art Walk, call 386-428-1770 or visit www.flaglergallerygroup.com.

And don’t forget that the NSB Water Taxi stops at the west end of Flagler Avenue, at the Grill at Riverview every two hours starting at 12:30 p.m. For details, call 386-428-4828 or visit www.nsbtaxi.com.

Posted on July 13th, 2010

The Little Theatre is pleased to announce the schedule for the performances of our Summer 2010 Show, ‘Cash On Delivery, a British farce by Michael Cooney under the direction of Patti Earl.

Nabbed in the end, Eric confesses, and instead of jail time, he finds a job working for the government, because he knows all the tricks!

Director Patti Earl has assembled an experienced and talented cast to capture the essence of performing on the live stage as their roles portray the magical and comical moments that Cooney has created in this play. SUMMER CAMP AT THE LITTLE THEATRE - New Smyrna Beach

Posted on July 9th, 2010

little-theatre-of-new-smyrna-beach-friends-forever-wonderland-attendees-bonded-some-even-exchanging-phone-numbers-and-e-mail-addresses

This year Summer Camp was at WonderLand Theatre for 32 young thespians. There were two camps for the young actors, depending on their ages. Camp One was a two-week camp for ages 7-12. Camp Two was for one week for ages 4-6.
Attendees in Camp One rehearsed for their on-stage performance of “GOONEY BIRD GREENE AND HER TRUE LIFE ADVENTURES” where the summer had come to a crashing halt in the little town of Watertower. The kids didn’t want to be back in school - they were listless and bored. Suddenly, the classroom door flew open and there stood the pig-tailed Gooney Bird Greene sporting her new cowboy boots and dressed unlike anyone they’d ever seen before!  Parents and friends attended the last two days of camp where attendees performed their well-rehearsed script all decked out in their own costumes, in their own make-up and on their own set, which were all individual camp projects where they learned the skills of acting and crewing in live theatre tradition.adults-attending-the-showcase-of-camp-two-get-into-the-act
Camp Two attendees, the younger set of campers, learned about bears in “BEARS AND MORE BEARS,” through the use of stories and exploring this animal of the wilderness through creative games, role playing, songs and poetry. The last day of camp featured a “show and tell” program presented for parents and friends. Some of the adults got into the act with the young thespians, creating a live bear-cave as a prop for their aspiring actors to use in their story-telling.
